Join Nervegna Reed Architecture after sunset for Screen Test: a special night of film screenings at MPavilion, with each film shedding light on a different aspect of architecture in Melbourne.

Known equally for their architectural designs and their films, Nervegna Reed Architecture is preoccupied with exploring the intersections of architectural graphic techniques through film. Screen Test brings together some of the key players in Melbourne architecture on-screen inside MPavilion 2017, designed by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten of OMA. Films on the line-up include:

Dr. Caligari Moves to the Suburbs—The Architecture of Edmond and Corrigan (2013)
Directed by Toby Reed; executive producer Anna Nervegna; produced by Sam Reed. 36 minutes.
Originally commissioned by RMIT Gallery as part of the exhibition Peter Corrigan: Cities of Hope (2013), this short film traces the creative focus of the late Australian architect, set designer and costume designer Professor Peter Corrigan—who designed RMIT University’s award-winning Building 8—and his business partner and wife, architect Maggie Edmond.

Las Vegas Studio: Melbourne (2014)

In 1968, American architects Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown and Steven Izenour joined together with Yale University students to take on Las Vegas as a major subject of research. This research led to the 1972 publication of the seminal architectural treatise, Learning from Las Vegas. This short documentary explores the influence of the text on Melbourne architecture, featuring in particular work from ARM Architecture, Lyons, Debbie Ryan and Rob McBride of McBride Charles Ryan, and Peter Corrigan.

Future Happiness (2016)
Directed by Toby Reed and Callum Morton; animation by MAP (Andre Bonnice and Tom Nervegna Reed). 3 minutes.
A short film originally included in the Occupied exhibition at RMIT Design Hub in 2016, curated by Grace Mortlock, David Neustein and Fleur Watson, with exhibition design by Otherothers.

Practice Collaboration: Nader Tehrani and John Wardle (2013)
Directed by Toby Reed; produced by Sam Reed and Anna Nervegna. 7 minutes.
A short film in which Nader Tehrani and John Wardle discuss the process of designing the new MSD Architecture building at the University of Melbourne.

The Future is Here: Roland Snooks (2014)

A short film exploring Roland Snooks’ ideas on design, with a particular focus on his work for The Future is Here, the touring exhibition created by the Design Museum, London, and brought to RMIT Design Hub in 2014.

Lyons director Corbett Lyon recounts his experiences studying with and working for the Venturis.
