New recordings on our library: Living Cities Forum 2017

On 27 July 2017 Melbourne hosted the inaugural Living Cities Forum 2017, an international design discussion about liveability with presentations from David Gianotten, Dan Hill, Mimi Zeiger, Marisa Yiu, Rory Hyde and Minsuk Cho. Did you attend and want to revisit the talks? Or perhaps you missed the occasion—fear not!  You can listen back to each speaker below, on the MPavilion library website or via podcast.

Dan Hill

“How can we use technology to bind people together, rather than to reduce interaction?” — Dan Hill

Mimi Zeiger

“We have to pair the dreams of utopian visions with the complex realities of daily life” — Mimi Zeiger

David Gianotten

“A city can only stay liveable if it is welcoming and invites new people into the city” — David Gianotten, co-architect of MPavilion 2017 in partnership with Rem Koolhaas, both of OMA.

Marisa Yiu

“What is vitality and how do we acknowledge change and dynamics to create cities of relevance?” — Marisa Yiu

Rory Hyde

“We need a new way of thinking about architecture that’s not just defined by the centres” — Rory Hyde

Minsuk Cho

“This traditional historic area doesn’t have to be a relic but it can also exist with modern developments” — Minsuk Cho

The Living Cities Forum 2017 was supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, and presented by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation in partnership with Open House Melbourne with the assistance of Melbourne School of Design at The University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT University and the Australian Institute of Architects.
