Describing MPavilion 2017 as a “small but perfectly formed structure [that] can easily respond to unexpected needs and impromptu programming,” Wallpaper* give a rundown of the OMA-designed modern amphitheatre, from its genesis to its grand opening as “a fitting home for a rich, 4-month long program of events.”

Also featured is a newly released short film that traces the origin story of MPavilion 2017 with dazzling footage of its many incarnations—from day to night, from semicircular performance space to theatre-in-the-round. In the video, Rem and David discuss their ambitions for the space as a hub of spontaneity where the power of performance can bring people together and stimulate debate about “what Melbourne can be” and “how the city, its suburbs and its surrounding country can play together and come together.”
