Kate Nagato

Kate Nagato is regional manager, northeast waterways and land at Melbourne Water. Her team is responsible for managing the environmental condition of waterways and wetlands in the Yarra river catchment as well as managing the major stormwater drainage network and various land assets. They work in partnership with councils, agencies and community groups to improve the health of the Yarra and its tributary streams as well as facilitating improved recreational outcomes. Kate has worked in various strategic, planning and operational executive roles at Melbourne Water over the past eight years, and prior to that worked in various government and consulting roles. She is passionate about helping people focus on the things that will make a real difference to the environment we live in and visit. To that end, she has been working closely with the Yarra Strategic Plan team to ensure the on-ground experiences of her team and their stakeholders and community are reflected in the fifty-year vision for the Yarra.
