Gertrude Opera
Gertrude Opera is an independent company (est. 2008) presenting opera-as-theatre with local and international established professional artists and creative teams—and studio artists—to present innovative and dynamic staged treatments of old and new works, programmed for, and made accessible to, a diverse audience. Gertrude Opera incorporates an international young artist performance program to bridge the gap from tertiary study to the professional stage.
Gertrude Opera takes treatments of new and traditional opera to old and new audiences, in city and regional areas—breaking down barriers to opera attendance and appreciation, with a growing reputation for excellence, and bold, visionary programming.
